@ms.jessysclassroom: I don’t ACTUALLY know what font Dr. Suess is using specifically but you get the idea! Are serifs too hard for preschoolers or am I not giving my early readers enough credit? #earlychildhoodeducation #teachersoftiktok #classroomdecor #typography
You can absolutely use serifs, just try to avoid the fancy “a”

It’s the a and the g. Make sure they look like how we actually teach ppl to write the letters

maybe you can ask your students! have a page with a few letters in different fonts and ask them to identify all the t's for example. notice what they easily identify and the ones that are tricky. it can be easily gamified and it's low stakes. that way when you use fonts you can know that they'll be able to recognize the letters

I’m not sure if this helps, but my chemistry teacher this year only used serif fonts because it’s easier for kids with dyslexia to differentiate the letters

No joke sometimes I use the font I want then go and change every an and g to a different font 😅 they get confused with those two but mostly the other ones are ok. They can get mixed up with some Ws and Vs depending on the font

I would say maybe avoid the performative A and performative G, and use the J with the hook at the end instead of the J that looks like an extended I. That’s what I struggled with when I was little.
