@elly.psychologist: If you notice your affected mood shifts every time someone else is upset, you are not alone in this struggle. Many people become so focused on fixing others’ feelings that they forget to care for themselves. Instead of asking how you can make them feel better, try to focus on what you need to feel calm and safe. It is not selfish to look after your own needs. Learning to regulate your own emotions, even when others are upset, helps break the cycle of having an affected mood and builds emotional resilience. You can care about others and still prioritise your own wellbeing #relationshiptok #Relationship #communication #loseyourself #losingyourself

I thought I upset my Mum the other day (I’m in my 50’s!) because she suddenly stopped responding in a text convo. It literally threw me for two days, my mood nosedived, I felt really depressed. When I finally spoke to her and mentioned the comment I thought had upset her, she said it hadn’t offended her at all!!!! Why do I do this? I always imagine I’ve upset people. I even imagined she’d told my sister I had upset her and that’s why my sister hadn’t responded to a text I’d sent her 😩
