![🌞Jennifer’s new beginning, day 9! Jennifer is 58, and lost 130 pounds. She has already had her body skin removal surgery, so her facelift was the finishing touch. Her surgery was challenging due to heavy bleeding tendencies. Nevertheless, I was able to get through safely to an excellent outcome - albeit with greater-than-average bruising. At the end of surgery, I placed a net of hemostatic sutures (see yesterday’s post.) They are painless, and were removed the second day after surgery. Net sutures practically eliminate the risk of postoperative bleeding (“hematoma”) so I use them in challenging cases like Jennifer’s and in all men; men are intrinsically more likely to bleed. Facelifting after significant weight loss used to be very unpredictable. With modern true preservation techniques, however, patients like Jennifer are now some of my happiest in the end!
