@coaching.gifted: Your frustration is why you’re getting passed over by the less capable. You need to process your frustration in order to be the next that’s being promoted. Your frustration reads as anger and people who are not emotionally intelligent (basically most people) will read that as anger towards themselves. #highintelligence #highlyintelligent

There’s nothing like incompetence telling the expert in the subject what to do. This is my life right now 🤦🏽

This is part of the reason why I decided to retire early, it became very frustrating having to train the new boss every couple of years and not being promoted, the most difficult part is when I asked who I was not promoted, nobody could give me an answer…

I've been there. My experience is that the best way to get the promotion you want is to seek it from another company, not waiting years on end to be, or not be, promoted.

I disagree. You're discounting politics, greed, and human nature.

Emotional intelligence definitely held me back from the title. However I took chances and made big decisions because others didn’t want the accountability. I made myself happy.

In my experience, I've managed my emotions and been professional. It's more a case of seeing secondary, tertiary (and beyond) impact of decisions. Voicing this labels you as being negative instead of strategic. This is more so in corporate structures which exist through short-term 'wins', often due to budgeting. Such companies do not work towards longer term goals. They exist in a firefighting state. They also have a high turnover of high achieving individuals and where only the mediocre remain.

Companies have to learn to adapt or lose their talent. Better for top talent to start their own firms instead anyways

Girl if you only KNEW. I am in this phase right now and it still hurts. It has been MONTHS ago. I know it will fade but I hate the time it takes 🫩. I know I am gonna get passed again but the frustration won't leave so I can't help it. I will just stay angry 😂

By consulting, I could remove myself from all of the nonsense. I was infrequently directed at a detailed level, but instead found the biggest hole in the system and set out to solve. Usually nobody else would touch the with a 10 foot pole. I worked in technology and so got the new toys to work with and then showed the permanent staff how to use it.

I accidentally hold a mirror up to people and they don't like it. I have a tendency to pause after being spoken to, to think about the logical foundation underpinning what's being said. Most people I've worked with quickly become defensive/hostile in retaliation. However realistically, I genuinely value others' input and I want them to be right.
