Michelle Thomas Method helped me to organize the words in my head effortlessly, while a French teacher at Sorbonne University couldn’t

One fundamental dispute I would raise - neurotrophins are released during neurobic activities (new, unfamiliar, different) and adults have “seen it all” so they are stuck in patterns of life driving down the same street, wearing the same clothes, doing the same work - so very few of these neurotrophins are released. But to a child, everything is new and so learning binds (in the presence of neurotrophins) very fast and for adults even learning phone numbers has become difficult. Michelle Thomas method was great - you are learning WITH the students who are learning.

Michael Thomas is great, used it 20 years ago, didn't get to fluency but got basic conversation pretty fast.

There’s no fast method, it’s hard work. Nothing more, nothing less. Consistency is the important part.

Michel Thomas basically used cognates, small chunks of grammar, and repetition, probably taken from Margarita Madrigal. Paul Noble later copied Thomas. I use all of those and add Pimsleur's and Assimil.

Some shaky spoken functional phrases in a week, yes. I want…, I can…, I need… but after a week a true beginner is going to understand almost nothing when they get a response to their phrases.
