@123al3002: The incident took place in France in 1997 during the Critérium International cycling race, not the Tour de France as many people believe. As the main group of cyclists (the peloton) was riding past a field, a horse suddenly jumped over a fence and joined the race. The horse began running alongside the cyclists at high speed as if it were part of the competition. Some riders had to be extremely cautious because any sudden movement by the horse could have caused a serious mass crash. The horse continued running with the peloton for quite a long distance and even moved ahead of some riders at certain moments, making the scene one of the most famous and amusing moments in cycling history. Eventually, the horse left the race route about 20 kilometers before the finish line. Fortunately, neither the riders nor the horse suffered any serious injuries.
