This was my experience after my second car accident 🚙… Originally I was told NOT to lift or try new movements, my back rehab specialists were keen to tell me stick to the program & do surgery… although at first not flexing the spine was indeed the correct thing to do, they scared me into not doing it forever. And that just didn’t seem right. So I started to do my own digging 🕵️‍♀️🔬🧐 You see I was diagnosed with 3 herniated discs, nerve damage & muscle atrophy so that obviously sounded (& felt) very scary 😖 but… I still didn’t agree that my body would never heal without surgery… Years later after studying & specialising in mobility training, I realised they had one way of thinking & it was a bit outdated…turns out, there’s a lot you CAN do, as long as: - You are gradual & timely with injuries like mine at first not doing too much too soon - You are consistent & accept that you won’t be able to work with much range of motion at first - You focus on JOINT FUNCTION before worrying about individual muscles alone, they all work as an interconnected system (so working on any imbalance will help if you’re in pain in one particular place, for example for me that was my feet 🦶) Anyway long story short, I’m fine now, and …surgery free & back pain free 🙏 Mobility Training is now something I teach on our CPD Mobility Certification & our Strength & Mobility Certification because I believe that gradually blending this approach with your STRENGTH training long term is the answer to get the best of both worlds as we age 🧡 To learn more about WHAT mobility training is? Comment the word GUIDE for my FREE explainer guide 💬 . . . . #mobilitytraining #flexibilitytraining #backpain #backpaintreatment #strongandflexible #hipmobility
