Over $132 Million went directly into upgrading the stadium—building 32 new corporate luxury suites and 4,000 premium hospitality seats. 🎟️ THE PROBLEM: While our tax dollars built the infrastructure, tickets on secondary resale markets are heavily inflated out of reach. A tournament meant for the community has become an exclusive playground for the corporate elite. 🗽 THE BLUEPRINT: Other host cities like New York negotiated directly with FIFA to secure $50 ticket blocks distributed via a secure, non-transferable lottery for local residents. If they can do it, Toronto has no excuses. We are calling on Mayor Olivia Chow, Premier Doug Ford, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and the CEOs of MLSE and Rogers to come to the table and fix this. We need: 1️⃣ A Community Allotment pulling from the premium spaces public funding helped build. 2️⃣ A transparent, affordable Resident Lottery for local youth clubs and families. 3️⃣ Strict Non-Transferable guardrails so scalpers can’t touch them. 4️⃣ Immediate executive action from Premier Ford to enforce Ontario’s face-value resale rules right now. Sport has the power to unite us, but only if everyone has a seat at the table.
