Yes the light bulb changed the world, but the electric motor did too. I often wondered why the inventor of the electric motor is not as famous as Edison.
I read that people bought electric motors and then figured out what to do with them. Kinda like buying a computer and then realizing what it could do for tasks.
Side note: The light bulb also led to better cleaning/sanitation in homes and hospitals. Dark corners came into the light.

The interesting thing about these kinds of inventions is the democratization of them! Once they were disseminated into public life, it radically transformed life as we know it. So to me, that means who leads the charge on that democratization holds quite a bit of weight and power in their hands….
