there’s so many things i have to say im not sure where to start. firstly, steel ball run being your first entry into JJBA is insane, yeah its not directly tied to the previous parts but its still part of the series and you essentially began a show and started from season 7 episode 1. secondly the “flaws” you pointed out can only be said in retrospect bc if you’d actually have watched part 1-6, you’d know that there’s a HIGH chance of side characters dying and plans going off the rails. part 6 especially was insanely different from part 7, it was basically a “try not to die” challenge for the main cast and jolyne developed so much throughout the story, and the story itself tackled very dark topics and had one of the best endings in all of fiction (smth no one argues about). part 7 and 8 is very different as araki reduced the main jobro cast to just gyro (part 7) and yasuho (part 8). therefore if something were to happen to those deuteragonists so early on or mid way, they’d feel underdeveloped and wasted. instead in both parts it was written so that the main character and the deuteragonist stuck close by and develop close and meaningful relationships for a better payoff at the end. plus you couldn’t be more wrong about part 8 being like part 7 or any other part (if you’d have watched them) bc part 8 is the first part to include the mystery genre within itself, which leads to one of the best protagonists in fiction (josuke8) trying to find out who he is and who he’ll choose to be by the end of the story. This isn’t meant to be an attack but i just hope you understand as someone who didn’t watch parts 1-6, your opinion is extremely invalidated and your take on part 8 is straight up wrong. and your complaint about part 7 could be said about literally every single other shonens (which no one would complain about) except tokyo ghoul perhaps

You just oversimplified the series too much, yes there is always a fight going on in every 5-6 chapters, but during those fight there is a story, character development, and new friendships along the journey. The first few fights with mrs. Robinson and the pork pie hat kid and oyecomova and the boom boom family gave us a story about gyro and his past, that’s why in the same chapters we learn about his family, the steel balls, and the struggle gyro faces to reach his goal. All of that while johnny is also learning about the spin energy and got tusk one, we also get a glimpse of his past in the manga, which we also learn more and more after every fight he faces until the civil war fight.

I mean, this is your opinion and I respect that. after all, enjoyability is something subjective. and me personally, the only arcs I found boring was just the boom boom family arc and that's it. the main reason why jojo's follow this "villian of the week" formula is because of its main theme that araki likes to do, is fate as part 4 states that stand users get attracted to each other. however, youre very much simplifying it. every jojo arc, we get new lore, back stories behind gyro and johnny. we get to see how johnny would do anything to keep gyro alive, and we slowly see johnny trying to redeem himself. however, I really want you to continue. I don't know the exact chapter you are on, but please read to the civil war arc. if you didn't like it, then you can just drop it. but, I also recommend you to finish it up until the whole D4C saga or when Valentine appears more.
