the part that took me years too: it's not that you picked approval over integrity. you were taught they were the same word. being good meant being agreeable, so speaking up felt like turning into someone bad. the resentment shows up when you finally notice they were never the same thing.

People pleasing is not a choice it’s a trauma response. We don’t choose to be that why it’s not a mistake. We are not focus to do it we do it unconsciously 😔

I learned how frustrating it is by experiencing another people pleaser. She will go along to get along and then weeks later complain about it. When I asked her why she did this she said she didn't want to upset me so she just agreed. I tried to explain that I'd rather be upset and have the truth. It was a real eye opener.
