I’m brown and I don’t carry my passport around. I do carry my DL that is real ID cert., and my military dependent ID. I’ve never feared being questioned by ICE or any law enforcement officer.

We are not of Cherokee blood. Many Cherokee women from the trail of tears were taken in by white families and married off to widows with children so they could raise them. How do I know this? Because my GGG grandmother was Cherokee and married to my German GGG grandfather to raise his kids. They had none of their own.

I don’t know about his connection to the Cherokee nation or communities. Being a member is different than “being” Indigenous. trump is challenging birthright citizenship to (some of) the Indigenous Nations situated in the US at the Supreme Court - makes this issue more scary.
