Her own lawyer talked her out of it. Convinced her a bench trial was the better option. One judge. One decision. No appeal to human emotion or reasonable doubt. Her dad says it plainly in this interview — if it had gone to a jury, she would be free today. Not one of those 12 people would have convicted her on that evidence. Instead she is sitting in prison with a minimum 15 year sentence because of a single conversation with her attorney. That is the decision that changed the rest of her life. Because he knew she was guilty and it’s his job to protect her if a jury found her guilty she would of gotten the MAX sentence so he did his job you should thank him and not blame him.
