I’m a teacher. When a kid doesn’t get as loud of applause at graduation, I make sure to clap louder and hoot and holler a little bit, even if I don’t know them. They deserve to be celebrated!!

the local grocery store chain I used to work at had special branded grad shirts for all the seniors to wear instead of our normal uniform shirt :)

my husband and I are CASA volunteers and we went to our local alternative high school's grad this year to celebrate our youths' graduations and my hands were ACHING from yelling and clapping for kids. ALL of those kids went through it to get there, and so many had just a few yelling for them. so I was extra loud, and it was worth it!

A small town restaurant near me took pictures of their 3 grad employees “working” in their caps and gowns and those smiles were BEAMING🥹🥹

I couldn’t get a car in hs (DACA wasn’t a thing yet) and my high school boyfriend’s mom decorated her car for me… we broke up but I still think about how much that really meant to me… it was really sweet!! 🥲

I’m a dance coach on my way home from my students’ high school graduation, listening to this and sobbing in the car.

when I graduated in 2021 I’d just reached one year of no contact with my mom. my boss [who I’d worked for for about the same time] treated me like family, fed me, got me a cake for my bday, and gave me $100 for graduation and $200 at the end of the summer when I left to go to college. she was the mom I really needed and she was always so proud of me. I worked there until she retired and then I left too bc she was the best part of being there. I hope she’s having a good retirement :’)

My general manager was the reason I made it through highschool. I needed an adult in my life and he stepped up. He is coming to my wedding next year 🥰

I send all my seniors handwritten graduation cards because I don’t want anyone to go uncelebrated 🫶 I keep a log of every student I had in class, and if I had them as an underclassmen, I send them a card if they come back to talk to me or at least greet me in the hallways 🫶

Do you remember that story about the Waffle House employee whose whole shift collaborated to get him nice clothes and a ride to his HS graduation? It was years ago but I still tear up when I think about it

If they give you an option to do a survey, put this info on there. It only encourages the managers to continue supporting their teen/new adult staff!

My mom didn’t show up at my high school graduation so to have a community support me instead would have literally meant EVERYTHING to me.
