Great post! The ‘has the fundamental thesis changed’ question is the most underrated filter in investing. Most people check price because it’s easy to find. Checking whether ROIC is expanding, whether free cash flow is growing, whether the moat is intact are the real questions to ask. Price is just noise until the fundamentals change

Not a newbie here but half agree with you. checking in especially during high volatility is extremely helpful when you're building up your position. Conversely when the market is on a run you can better decide when to sell the positions that you have identified as trades as they extended from avg target price to high and also protect your downside. I agree with the emotion argument. Especially if your position follows a pattern around earning and it bucks the trend leaving you to sell as you planned only to see it keep going up.

Just to give an alternative truth; I’m 62. I went probably 20 years without checking my Rollover IRAs. Now I check and manage my accounts daily, including my Health Savings Account. I’m fine tuning that Roth conversions and taking calculated risks to have a comfortable retirement. I wish I’d paid this kind of attention YEARS ago.
