If you’re a Thai food girly and not eating at Soothr in the East Village yet… get up and gooo We came here for a friend’s birthday and ended up with about 20 people doing the prix fixe dinner party menu, which basically means once you sit down the kitchen just starts firing. And I mean firing. The place was absolutely packed. We actually waited outside on the street for a bit even though we had a reservation. which in New York usually means the food is about to be worth it. Once we got seated the dishes started landing on the table one after another. The jeeb dumplings were incredible. Juicy, savory, gone in about 30 seconds. The roasted eggplant salad looked amazing too, bright, smoky, fresh, the kind of dish that balances out everything else on the table. But the tom yum was the one. Hot, aromatic, that perfect Thai spicy sour punch that clears your sinuses and makes you immediately want another bowl. The green curry was also ridiculously good. rich, fragrant, and comforting in the way a really good curry should be. They kept bringing out plates: kung karee shrimp, crab fried rice, pad boong fai dang, and by the time lychee sorbet came out we were all completely full but still eating it anyway. Only downside, the pacing felt a little rushed because they were moving through the group dinner menu so fast. It kind of felt like speed running a feast. Honestly I’d love to come back with just a few people and order off the regular menu so we can take our time and explore more. The cocktails were great, the food was great, and if you’re looking for Thai food in NYC or East Village restaurants, this spot absolutely deserves the hype (It’s also been recognized by the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand, which tracks) Would come back for the tom yum, dumplings, and green curry alone. #thaifood #eastvillage #nycfoodie #soothr #michelinbibgourmand
