I was adopted as a baby 74.5 years ago and I have to tell you, I don’t remember any of those firsts you mentioned. What I do remember is the love my parents surrounded me with and undying support they offered through every part of my life. They supported me when I came out as gay in my early 20’s they accepted my partner as another son, they looked after our pets when we travelled and I looked after them in their last years. To this day 30 and 31 years after they passed I still am grateful for the love and life they gave me. Your little boy will grow up to feel the same way because of what you offer him.

As a foster carer who gets to watch all the first, it's not lost on us that we are watching these first. At the same time it's also sad that we are getting these first when we know the plan is adoption as we know just how much the first mean too and want yous to witness them. X
