@rossthacker10: Changing how I run has led to the biggest improvements in running performance. More efficient. Less wasted energy. Running faster paces at lower effort. Here’s what I changed: 1️⃣ Overstriding In the first clip I’m over striding and heavily heel striking, this was effectively slamming the brakes on with every step and increasing my risk of injury. To fix it, I worked on knee drive and feeling like I was landing under my centre of mass. The cue that worked for me was to feel like my legs were moving in a cycling motion. This improved my foot strike naturally without having to force it. 2️⃣ Posture/body tension In the first clip I’m excessively leaning forward with a very tense upper body, causing me to sway side to side. Keeping tall and relaxing my shoulders, arms and hands eliminated tension and allowed me to transfer power through every stride. Think ”chest tall, shoulders relaxed” 3️⃣ Arm drive My arms used to move across my body, which created unnecessary rotation and wasted energy. Focusing on driving my elbows backwards and matching my arm drive with my stride made it feel a lot smoother and more coordinated. Making the same effort feel a lot easier. Small changes, massive improvement in performance. #Running #runningtips #runningform #marathon

Backwards cap is creating aerodynamic push that is shortening stride length

Your form looks ok even in the first clip. Was the “over striding” as you call it making you injured?

In the first clip, you’re overstriding. In the second clip, you’re landing more underneath your body, resulting in less braking force and a smoother, more efficient stride.

First you run on your toes, your hips rotate less, I believe you have less SPM, your arms move more efficiently, you breathe throught your nose, you have a cap, and also you have a better posture I believe

The way your foot strikes, your stride, and you seem to be twisting your upper body a lot in the first clip

First clip you’re running to the right the next clip the left. So you naturally prefer running to the left
