@outofgashvacr: How to diagnose a faulty head pressure control valve as a hvac and refrigeration technician!❄️🔥 #hvacservice #hvactips #hvac #refrigeration #hvaclife
You mean I’ve been removing those for 5 years and I could just be cutting that off

I've never seen anyone use the left side of their manifold for the high side.

I've heard of doing this but never been in the scenario where I would do it. So the valve would have to be physically stuck in bypass and releasing the charge may not unstick it. I've also heard you need to seal the pigtail afterwards or you can eventually dump the whole system charge.

You can braze a hose adapter onto the pigtail and use one of your hoses attached to the suction line so if it is slightly bleeding by you won’t loose refrigerant and it will stay bypassed until you can replace it

Actually have run across that one time and had to do the same thing to get unit cooling again. I have heard it called the winter control valve as well.

Never seen one in my life would they not just use a fan speed control on the receiver rotor lock?

Rare but easy to diagnose. Blowing cool air but hot liquid line. Ive clipped the cap on one in July then came back in September to replace.

Or just say metering device because not everyone gonna know what’s a head master unless they’re a technician like you or a hvac engineer
