@dontreadalone3: She arrived in January 2024. She was dead by February. It started with stomach pain. The kind that builds slowly — quiet at first, then louder, then impossible to ignore. Stacey went to the school nurse the way you are supposed to. The right thing. The responsible thing. The nurse looked at her. Then accused her of feigning illness. You are pretending, the nurse said. In different words, perhaps. But that was the message. Go back to your dormitory. So Stacey went back. And the pain stayed. And it grew. Cerebrospinal Meningitis does not wait. It is an acute inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and the spinal cord. It moves fast and it moves silently and it does not care that you are fifteen and just started Senior High School and your whole life is still ahead of you. It was already inside her — eating, spreading, building — while the nurse filed it under dramatics and moved on with her day. Her dormmates watched her get worse. They had no power. No car. No phone to call her mother. Just their own young hands and the helpless knowledge that something was very, very wrong with their friend. She was hurriedly rushed to the hospital when it became impossible to ignore any longer. She was already gone when she arrived. The Criminal Investigations Department took over the case. The school's management stayed tight-lipped. The Ghana Education Service sent condolences. Nine counsellors were deployed to help the remaining students cope. Words were said. Statements were released. Investigations were opened. On Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, Stacey Okyere was buried at Ablekuma cemetery in Accra. Her parents described her as their beacon of light. The girl who brought joy into every room she entered. The sick bay at Aburi Girls still stands. The nurse still had a job to do the next morning. And somewhere in Ghana, right now, another girl in a boarding school dormitory is holding her stomach and deciding whether it is worth the walk to the sick bay. Whether she will be believed. Whether anyone will take her seriously. Whether she will make it back. Stacey was not pretending. She never was. And that is the most horrifying sentence in this entire story. ————————————————————— DOWNLOAD OUR BOOK 📕 IN THE BIO 🔗 Note: it’s free Note: the audiobook is out #SheWasNotPretending #StaceyOkyere #AburiGirlsHorror #GhanaHorrorStories #TrueCrimeGhana

This "I'll not allow you to go home syndrome must stop!"
I remember we had a WASSCE staying in December 2015 to prepare us for WASSCE 2016.
I remember I fell sick just a split second and I feel I'm transitioning from this earth every night. I reported to the housemistress and Senior Housemistress but it fell on dead ears. All my body aches my friends were the only people who could help me, even to have a bath was a problem; I entire dependants was on my friends. Since it's was vacation, the school clinic was on vacation.
I used a Teacher's phone to call my sister and tell her everything I'm going through. My sister came to the school to take an exeat to even take me home but she was refused the exeat. the Senior Housemistress told my sister that if " She take me from the school premises, I shouldn't return because she'll spill ill to the Headmistress so that I'll be taken away from the boarding house thus I'll be coming from home to sit for my WASSCE". NB. I'm that student to whom exeat was something I never took during my three years in the school.
When my sister noticed the seriousness in my senior housemistress's eyes, she left the school without me.
I entirely depended on my friends assistance and encouragement until we finished the staying 0n 9th January 2016.
My mum wept the day she saw me back from school. I was rushed to the the general hospital, in arrival I was told I've become anaemic.

We visited my sister in school and she looked sick I asked her if she has gone to the school clinic, she said she has been there twice with the same complains she was given para and asked to go, we later found out her condition was getting worse, so we sent an email to the school to allow her come home for medical check up and they declined, my dad went there hand wrote a letter they still declined, las las we had to use connections before the permission was granted…..what we had to go through before this girl received medical care errr and here issue was serious too ooo……Aburi girls should do better when it comes to the health of the students, we know there’s a limit to what the school clinic can do, they can atleast refer them to a bigger facility and notify the guardians please we beg….by the grace of God my sister is fine and she’ll be out of there soon in Jesus name 🙏
