i have something wrong with me that takes everyone and everything literally and therefore impervious to underhanded or passively rude comments until days after the conversation. and it has gotton me fired before.

A manager once told me I was underperforming because I asked too many questions when she was laying out plans. I started crying and told her I don't think I could ever meet her expectations if it meant asking for clarity so I could be successful was frowned upon.

My Way :
This is why I feel so angry when educators/supervisors make comments about how long something takes them / should take. Don’t get me wrong, I need clearly defined expectations and benchmarks but communicated as a goal to work toward if it takes me longer along with support to help figure out what I could try to do differently - not as a measuring stick used to identify who is good enough and who isn’t.

I remember a manager who wasn’t even my direct boss got me put on a PIP, she said I was not communicating properly and kept messing up on things. I told her I wasn’t properly trained and asked what she wanted me to improve on. She simply said “There are some things we just can’t teach you, you just should know them”. I was fired a few months later. Idk what she meant cause I started doing the same job at my current company that was willing to work with me and I am really good at the job. It kind of hurts that I was treated the way I was looking back, but I’m much better off now

There is too many people in charge at my work and they all say different things.So I went above them to the top manager and was like, how do I do my particular job? they explained it to me and that's what I go by. i can't cope with one manager telling me one thing and another manager telling me the complete opposite. it will cause me to completely melt down.🫣
