I haven’t always been the “fun” mom. Truth is it’s been a process to get here. But, let me tell you I have ZERO REGRETS!!! As a mom of 6 kids, I speak from experience when I tell you these 7 things were killing our connection 👇 1️⃣ Housework. Your clean house, organized pantry, perfectly folded laundry will NOT be what you reminisce about after you drop your babies off at college. 2️⃣ Always saying no. Start planning in the fun, say YES to a few things that will SHOCK your kids and start creating the memories you truly want to be making with your kids 3️⃣ Not being there on THEIR schedule. Listen when they want to talk. I can’t tell you how many of our best conversations ever happened when they walked in the door at 11pm. 4️⃣ Always giving advice. Be ready to listen, ask questions and support your teen. BUT, don’t always pipe in to tell them how to solve their problems or start telling them a story about how you “know exactly what they are going through”. Truth is- we don’t! (I just learned that one last year) 5️⃣ Pushing your interests instead of trying theirs. You may not be the biggest fan of the same music choices, tv shows that your teen is into but you should be “INTO” your teen. And that’s enough! Trust me the memories and closeness you’ll share are way better than any music or show anyway. 6️⃣ Forgetting to greet them with joy. Greet them like sunshine when they walk through the door! They might be cranky or short with you. It doesn’t matter. Show up happy to see them again and again. Don’t stop trying because they’ve had a rough day. 7️⃣ Expecting perfection. Celebrate what they do right. Be quick to forgive. What you water, grows. If you’ve got a teenager, I promise... they still want your time (even if they pretend otherwise. Start small. Be consistent. Have FUN. That’s how memories are made. Comment “GET STARTED” if you want my free guide with ideas to bonding with your teen! #FunMomEra #ParentingTeens #FamilyConnection #RaisingTeens #MomLifeUnfiltered
