This should make people uncomfortable and angry. How does a dog get ignored medically to this severity? We are tired of excuses. There are none for suffering. This 8 year old Frenchie was found as a stray, dumped outside and left to suffer with a massive tumor hanging off his body. It is almost the size of his own head. It’s red and angry looking from the weight of it constantly pulling on his poor skin. We were basically his last hope. Cases like this often get euthanized at the shelter because there just isn’t the time, space, or resources to take on something this severe. We saw the plea and grabbed him immedietly. Our transport volunteer already grabbed him and dropped him off at the hospital. The plan is to remove the mass, biopsy it, and finally get him comfortable. If we can, we’ll go back in for clean margins once we know exactly what we’re dealing with. Right now, the priority is simple: stop the pain and give him a chance to breathe without carrying this weight anymore. It’s hard not to feel angry knowing this didn’t happen overnight. This is what neglect looks like when it’s ignored long enough to become suffering. If you’ve ever wondered what your $5 Friday does it’s stuff like this. It’s emergency surgery. It’s pain relief.
