there is no entity that has taken over Nikki. The director makes it clear that there is no entity or demon possession. The wish has given Nikki a personality that is 100% Nikki but is obsessed with bear. I think people making jokes about the film comparing it to Latina craziness is a light-hearted approach to the film. It doesn't mean that they didn't understand the film, or they are ignoring the nuances in it. some people watch movies for entertainment. I think your interpretation is good, but I think people are forgetting that it's just an interpretation. The movie doesn't spell anything out for us and we the audience are allowed to come to our own conclusions. The issue is whenever people come to their own conclusions and proclaim their conclusions to be truth over other people's takeaways. and then they will clash with people who make jokes about the film because they're viewing it through different lens. that's not objective. It's subjective to them
