Couldn’t find the custard powder in my local grocery store in the US, so I substituted for vanilla pudding mix. Tasted great!

I’ve just hosted an open house for my 70th birthday & to celebrate finishing my house renovation, I made loads of stuff but the nanaimo bars were the first to go, everyone loved them, thanks 🤩 I’m in UK so custard powder wasn’t a problem

Lost me at almond flour. Traditional naniamo bars uses graham cracker and chopped almonds or walnuts. My family has made it for generations

Fun fact: The Nanaimo bar is considered one of Canada’s most iconic desserts, alongside Butter Tart and Poutine. Some bakeries in Nanaimo even offer a “Nanaimo Bar Trail” where visitors can sample different versions of the famous treat. 🍫🇨🇦 I’m American and I have no idea how I know this; I just do!

Just a note if you’re pregnant, you want to make sure your eggs get up to 165°F. I keep the mixture with the eggs on the double boiler until that temperature is reached.

I’m intrigued; never heard of them or had them. Question though can you use an alternative flour that is not tree nut based? If so, what do you suggest? TIA.

Just seeing this rn. Is there anything you'd recommend as a replacement for the coconut? I love coconut but my body doesn't process it good so I've been told to avoid it although I'd still totally eat it. Lol.

I learned a trick. After 30 mins of chilling take it out and score the chocolate layer then put back to firm up more. Helps to not crack them
