as someone with chronic depression, it isn't just the suffering, it's the lack of motivation to get tested. when I'm really depressed, sitting up in bed feels like running a marathon

As a non scientist depression really annoys me as a diagnosis because it just feels SO unscientific……like…low mood?? it feels closer to a vitamin deficiency than a mental disorder

If you can make a video about nootropics that have some clinical evidence of actually working that would be absolutely great.

I’ve always seen depression and anxiety as symptoms, it’s wild people get diagnosed with these and don’t look any further it’s almost never the root

Would you be able to elaborate further about how ocd isn’t linked to anxiety anymore? I know that was a brief thing in the video but that really piqued my interest!

omg yes. my depression changed so much over the years(13-20), im not depressed in even a resembling way to 5yrs ago, or even 2yrs ago. back then it was the stereotypical MDD+anxiety(low hygiene, not leaving my bed etc), now im just passively suicidal at all times, despair and a lot of big feelings every 2 weeks or so for a few days then back to "normal"(it's not normal, i dont feel joy much, i still have no aspirations and only want to do my comfort hobbies but i dont because i cant do that)
im a completely different person, and so is my disorder

I am diagnosed with Schizoid Personality Disorder which was formerly a diagnosis under schizophrenia until 1984. I have always related to people with schizophrenia, because of the negative symptoms of the disorder (such as, flat effect, apathy, abolition, anhedonia) while I never developed the positive symptoms of schizophrenia (hallucinations, delusions, etc). Even so, many people I've met throughout my life thought I could be categorised as "schizophreniac" in my similarities to those with the disorder, albeit a lot of the time it came with a lack of knowledge in both disorders or my experience. I wish there was more research about schizophrenia-schizoid

I’m not sure if you’ve covered it but there was also an article I saw saying metformin was potentially effective in treating bipolar in people with type 2 diabetes that’s somewhat related to this
