My mercury two-stroke is the same way. I remedy this by starting it once before I leave the house while hooked up the trickle charger and hooked up to the flush line. I also start it on the trailer and let it run for a minute right before I launch. Then it starts right up in the water and I don’t look like an idiot.

Almost every Keihin equipped Kawasaki I’ve had come through the shop had hard start issues even after oem carb rebuild kits and oem adjustments. I started going up a size on pilot jets with good success and to avoid using primers kits. The CV carbs are worse than the CDK2s you’ve got.
