Good for filters on the bottom of motor. Not all filters are on the bottom, some are on the side making this video a waist of time. The seal needs to be lubed before installing with new oil is more important .

So I had E Class Merc. Filter is upside down. So if you had a problem with your engine, then contact Merc for a free engine, if you had problems.

I have never punched a hole in an old filter, but have ALWAYS primed the filter. Even if the filter is sideways or upside down you soak the element but don't fill it.

my friend changed his oil and forgot to put the plug back. he drove 5 mi, realized it, went back, put the plug in and drove it another 50,000mi without a problem

You can also loosen the filter and just get an over size plastic cup and put it over the filter and unscrew it and the oil spills into the cup

My dad is a retired journeyman mechanic and he never did any of this. Only thing my dad taught me was to oil the filter gasket before installing.

in most newer cars you can't get a screwdriver anywhere near the filter and if you fill the filter and it's mounted sideways your just going to spill it
