The venator is a good ship, but it is specialized to an awkward degree. It is optimized and elite at deploying large numbers of fighters rapidly, but should never have been a mainline ship. Dedicating that much tonnage inside a limited hull is not what you’d want in your frontline cruiser, you’d want stronger shields and more reactor capacity for those shields and more/stronger guns.

Also you have to keep in mind the clones had to watch out for G-forces when fighting inside of a planets atmosphere. The droids could legit just do whatever they want without paying attention to G-Forces

In legend it's much worse. At the beginning of the war the republic has only acclamator LAAT gunship and torrent and jedi fighter. the only way they pulled it was because of the discipline, dedication and grit of their bio enginereed child soldier
