I used to work at dollar tree and the ridiculous amount of times people tried to come in and use a $100 bill on a $3 transaction. like NOO smaller bill or card pls💀

Pointing out that the "you have to take it cause it's legal tender" doesn't mean stores HAVE to take the bill. It means for paying off existing debt, not for a simultaneous exchange between store and customer. Stores absolutely can refuse to accept large bills for any reason.

used to work at Jimmy John's. a lady came up to me once to pay for one sandwich with a 100. I had explained to her that location I was working at don't accept 50s and 100s no more. and she got extremely mad and cussed me out and left.

My fav thing to say in response to “it’s legal tender you HAVE to take it” is “I legally don’t HAVE to serve you if I don’t want to for whatever reason. I’m not a bank but you can go to the bank and get smaller bills with your legal tender!!🥰”

I hated that when I used to work at a movie theater. I don't get why people walk around with a lot of 100's and try to think we would have enough change early in the morning.

that's on the company then for mishandling money and not being serious about the job. on the back of the bills it says "for ALL debt and tender", meaning you can't legally refuse 100 just because youre not set up for it

I don't even take $100s at 4pm for less than $50 sale. Breaking big bills put me in a situation where I have too much cash on hand and I won't be robbed twice. Thank you.
