during the summer I get emails asking me to turn my AC up because they don't want to over strain the power grid..... then when it gets really cold the power grid just fails all together...... but somehow we can afford and sustain giant data centers?

Why are we allowing data centers in this state when our grid already fails just from us trying to keep our houses warm during winter🙃🙃🙃

Yeah no… I live in Alvin. Just a few years ago every time there was even a slight storm the power would go out for several hours. Since then everything would be fine. But I fear this would drain power

and why are they building in the hottest states, especially TX that has routine droughts. states like Maine have plenty of water and will not require near the cooling (for example)

The city of Alvin or the county of Brazoria need to start buying up the land and just buy it up the as a nature preserve or something. All you have to do is let us vote on it.

The power goes out in the slightest bit of high winds and rain. What the fuck makes them think billing a data center in that area is a good idea

Brazoria County needs to Follow Alvin’s lead by passing a formal county resolution opposing any future data center developments until full resource impact assessments can be completed.Aggressively enforce existing county nuisance, road-use, and sound restrictions against active facilities like the Giga Energy site to protect residents from sleep-disrupting decibel levels.
