My first gf wouldn’t stop self harming and one night called me because she had taken a bottle of pills. I always swore to never tell her parents but in that moment knew I had to tell someone or she was going to die. I called her parents in the middle of the night and she ended up living. She got admitted to the psych ward and when she got out she tore me to shreds and broke up with me after telling me she hated my guts and always will. Anyways, she’s 1 year away from being the neurosurgeon she’s always dreamt of being and that’s only possible because I risked thw possibility of losing her over her losing her life. It’s been 12 years and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

My friend called the cops after I took a bottle of pills…my mom hated her for it and I was never allowed to hang out with her again. I still think of her 7 years later. She saved my life.

she will thank you. I told my dad about her toxic relationship..he made her cry and we didn't see her for 2 years. when she saw my dad again she ran to him and hugged him saying she never forgot what he said, she just needed to find the strength he gave her..it got lost in the fight 😭😭

I got a goodbye txt from her at 2am. I called her mom and dad, I txted her little brother. I messaged her family on facebook until I got someone to respond. I haven’t spoken to her in almost 7 years but she is alive about to get married I believe. I’m happy just knowing she is alive

I had a friend who was self harming. I told a counselor at school. Her parents made her cut all contact with me. But she’s alive today, even if we haven’t spoken in 10 years.

Had my entire friendship group turn on me in highschool because I reported to the school, their parents and the cops how they were being SAd in exchange for drugs by one of the dads. They all hated me for it but I will never regret getting them out of that situation.

my best friend in highschool texted me to tell me she took two bottles of pills. i called the cops she hasn’t spoken to me since but she’s a nurse now and has 2 kids and id do it all over again.

My sister was being abused by a boyfriend, her bestfriend found out and called me and I told our mom and we were able to get my sister away from him. She still doesn’t talk to that friend anymore but me and my mom will always be thankful for her and love her

all these stories about people doing this and years later still not having contact is heartbreaking. I can understand the distress and anger in the moment but as you grow up and years later I would imagine they would reach out and say thanks even if they don't want to be friends but some acknowledgement of the help you received in a moment of hurt is the right thing to do in my opinion.

I took a bottle of pills and texted my best friend. She responded, but she never messaged my parents or anyone about what I did. I made it out alive at the end of the day, but waking up in the morning to a simple “hey, you still alive” message made me feel like the most insignificant human being. It’s not fair to put your life onto someone else like that, but she was my last call. I was at such a low point in my life and didn’t see another way out. She was my last call of “maybe i’m making the wrong decision.” I never held it against her but being on the other side of things, I will always choose your life over our relationship. Always.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I hope she’s safe and okay now but we haven’t talked in a few years now. I still think about her from time to time, I hope she is happier 💜

Two of my best friends called my mum right before I almost unalived myself. Life got in the way and we don’t speak anymore but I still think of them and I’m grateful that they didn’t leave me alone that night. I wish them both the best life they could possibly have ❤️
