@sbiery: When is too soon to introduce your affair partner to your to your family? I filed for divorce 4 months ago and found out about his affair 5 months ago. Since then, he asked me to stay in the marriage, told me I was moving too fast in deciding to divorce, begged me to keep the house, and then got angry at me and has pretty much stayed that way. After so many years together, it’s just another betrayal on the list that he would introduce her the week of our anniversary. And he acted so disgusted when it came out when his sister did it and yet here he is doing the exact same. #divorce #betrayal #affair #cheating #sadvibes
It’s his family. They will always be on his side. You need to focus on you and move on. Thinking all the things about his side of the family is keeping you stuck in the old life. You can absolutely do this. Life is ahead of you. You are beautiful and smart. Wishing you to discover your power and move on

please don't assume that his family is ok with what's happening.

They are not just his family after all those years. They are also your family. And there are betraying you and that hurts. But you will come out stronger.

The family really has no choice, so I’d let that one go. It’s not necessarily betrayal to you that they are accepting her. What else can the family do?

I would not assume that they are comfortable with this, there’s nothing they can do about it so they have to just keep moving forward. I’m really sorry it’s so difficult.

I'm completely understanding your feelings. My in-laws knew about my ex's affair for months before I found out. it's a whole other level of betrayal, isn't it? They looked me in the eyes on a family vacation, broke bread with me, all while knowing what I didn't. Betrayal is a family affair these days. ☹️

Please don’t say in your brain it doesn’t matter! You’re dismissing the amount of betrayal and bullshit that was done to you, it does matter!! You more importantly MATTER 💯

You need to stop knowing all of this. Tell people not to even tell you. It’s hard but you gotta let go.

Married 22 yrs when ex-wife told me. I immediately kicked her out & filed for divorce. That was just after Halloween, & she invited him to their (her parents) place for Christmas. Her dad & I were so close, and now I don’t speak to any of them. Let it go, you will heal in time.

I just went through the exact same thing! We were together 16 years. I felt so hurt that his family just accepted that. I know that’s not rational and not their fault but I felt betrayed. Very confusing feeling because I realize it’s not their fault. I was just surprised how it made me feel. I had a much harder time losing his family then I did losing him.

Went through the same thing…. Husband left me for affair partner after being married for 22 years totally blindsided….. introduced to family about 3 months later and about a year after no one talks to me anymore like I’m the enemy! Betrayed again by them! You are right to feel this way…… I’m 3 years in and still so very hurt

I’ve been in your exact shoes. Almost EXACT. A year on and I couldn’t be happier. Dare I say I’m even grateful for the affair.

I absolutely loved my sister in law and so did my whole family and my heart breaks still. But were my brothers family and he’s my brother at the end of the day , we didn’t think or except anything but we had to be nice to his now new wife !! Regardless, I knew my sister in law for 20yrs !! It’s really weird for my whole family !! Once you move on you will not be concerned about this mess !! I know it hurts your feelings I’m sorry

I lived through this also . Within 2 mos my ex mother in law wanted to have a family cook out so everyone could meet her . No one in the family called to see how me and our daughter were doing . It’s heartbreaking until a friend told me the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree . I had a whole new perspective and was over it .

They will always choose their own child. I had a hard time with this, too, but divorce causes people to take sides somewhat. It doesn’t mean they rejected you, but when there is a rift, they are somewhat forced to accept their own family member’s new life. Trust me when I say that doesnt always mean they approve, just that they support their child. Do not take it too personally. It’s another unavoidable by-product of divorce.
