Commenting on nipples in the wind because it’s my favorite of your sayings and there’s very few comments so this might be seen. I’ve been using that phrase and telling my 12-year-old that that is my new motto. And then it dawned on me. I had cancer and a mastectomy and I do not have nipples and I haven’t laughed that hard in such a long time.

i described my elective c section to many people before i had it as "we're planning a sunroof exit" because i got it from you 😂

I’m suddenly less upset that I was fully knocked out for my c section.

As a neurodivergent weirdo, I would be extremely comforted by these comments

I would like to counter that by saying why aren’t more people the way you are? That saying is perfect.

I think its important to acknowledge the awkwardness of birth and the way you phrase things helps women not feel like a burden. It takes the situation from "you're my job today" to "I'm genuinely here to help you and everything is okay." Humor has healing powers and gives such a human connection when women are at their most vulnerable. Your words are your super power❤️💪

Coworkers need to take a seat. Being talked to like friends is far more comforting than listening to a stale sterile "professional."

Honestly, all of this would make me feel so much more comfortable than if you were just super professional and had no sense of humor. I’d immediately crack up and be like yes, you’re my kind of person lol

I would 100% rather have a nurse with a sense of humor than a serious, "professional" demeanor. Humor can be so disarming and even comforting in embarrassing situations. Humor is real.

As someone who's had 3 c-sections I would've absolutely loved that. I was still numb and I had the kindest nurse adjust my leg to clean me up and she was like "now you can explain how this feels to your new baby" I laughed so hard.

I do a lot of "Well baby didn't really approve of their entry method and decided to speak to the manager, that's me. Got them all straightened out just don't let them leave a Yelp review." when I get called to a birth for a misbehaving baby

I think one I said was a parent asked if there was a problem with the baby's color right after birth and I responded something along the lines of: "Yeah, it's normal to take a few minutes to come to terms with having to join this world. I'd be blue for a bit too."

Canadian anesthetist here: A little while ago, I had to do a stat GA C-section on a lady and then help resuscitate the newborn. She had had a placental abruption. Good outcome for both mum and baby. When I went back to talk to the mother about it, I thought of how well you explain things to people and used some of your language. Thanks for being you.

Someone said the most Jen Hamilton (compliment) thing ever at work today. Re: colonoscopy. “How’d the prep go? Everything coming out clear? If it hit your windshield could you see through it” I DIED. Patient cackled
