It’s not about space, it’s about u shouldn’t be paying rent forever. With a house that u buy u pay it off eventually, with renting u never pay it off

unless you care about having equity or whatever then yea a home would be a good idea. Me personally idc about that, I like renting,I can switch whenever I want ,something breaks? not my problem i pay for the convenience of not having to worry about maintenance 🤷♀️not everyone wants to own a home

My first house I lived in for 5 years and when I sold got a check for $32,000 after everything. In my second home and have over $120,000 in equity in just over 5 years. So in 10 years it’s about 150k. Let’s deduct maintenance and say I’ve paid $20,000 in maintenance (then though it’s probably less than 5k) that’s still 130k profit. I think people renting know they pay a premium but I don’t think they understand how much money they leave on the table.

I agree I prefer the city lifestyle unfortunately rent in the Seattle area is equally bad as my mortgage. Ugh

The nice thing about renting is that you don’t have to worry about expensive/surprise repairs.

Not a good time to buy unless you can bring a significant amount of cash to the table

I owned a home. It sucked I don’t mind investing the difference into index funds. Vs having to shell out of pocket for every repair.

I’ve been renting for years and this is my exact same philosophy. I live downtown in a beautiful location. I don’t have to worry about maintenance or exorbitant taxes.

My parents water heater just broke and filled our basement with 2 inches of stinky water and that confirmed to me that I don’t think I ever want to own a house.

See the thing is, if we were collectively paid more.We could still do all of the things that you listed next day in a couple of days without having to worry about anything

Honestly as much as rent is, the housing market has gotten so bad especially this year then it forces most people to rent and be more worthwhile
