It’s rude to leave things ambiguous. It’s rude to mislead people with a “maybe”when it’s actually a no. Being direct IS the most polite approach

also a simple tip- stop saying “just”. “Just checking if there’s an update on this?” Vs “Is there an update on this?”

I'm direct and try to be as polite as possible but some people keep insisting and say things along the lines of "so I'm not worth your time?". How can I answer to those people?

psychologist here...quick tip!saying thank you instead of sorry shifts the sense of responsibility.
"sorry I can't" versus "thank you for the opportunity"

Totally! Also its not your job to manage other people's emotions. If they don't like your 'No', then its their problem. Most people-pleasers live in deep fear of being rejected/abandoned. Thus the need to work on the self first!

I heard a concept of clean cuts vs dirty cuts. if you want to say no, it's a cut. if you are honest and kind, it's a clean cut. if you are indirect, leave it uncertain or lie and say you're OK with it, that's a dirty cut. you've brought dishonesty and resentment into it!

when you're the CEO you can speak more freely when you work with peers you need politicking. Being blunt is a lot easier. I'm not sure why people are so impressed w this lol

Ive always said. No one will give me value I don’t give myself. Ask for the raise you’re worth it. Walk away if you don’t get it.
