Your masseter, the chewing muscle at the angle of your jaw, tightens from clenching and stress. A tight masseter widens the lower face and presses on the lymphatic channels right there, so fluid pools in the cheek. That heavy fullness is congestion. Masseter is the strongest muscle in the body btw. Now follow where that fluid is supposed to go. It has to drain downward, past the edge of your jaw, down the neck, to the lymph nodes above your collarbone. Here is the part that connects everything. That whole drainage path runs along the platysma, the sheet of muscle that climbs from your collarbone up to the edge of your jaw. When the platysma tightens and its fascia adheres to the lower border of the mandible, it does two things at once. It drags the jaw edge down so your jawline blurs, and it shuts the gate so the fluid backed up in your cheek has nowhere to go.
