As a muslim I agree, but its not because of islam itself but rather the men that think they have the right to dictate the religion as they please. Unfortunately patriarchy has always been present affecting the way the religion is practiced. However if you were to read the Quran and learn about sahih hadiths (in the right given context) you’ll see its not because of islam but rather the men that have poisoned it

First of all both men and women have to be pure if they have never been married. And if it’s perceived (which it is ) that women’s is more important then it’s it the culture and the men within it . But Islam says both has to be pure for marriage if not then they will have a lot more bad deeds
