nah, cause I had some things (safeguards) on my child's phone: immediately on my child's 18th bday, removed all of them and unlinked it from my account. its one thing to do this for SAFETY, its another entirely when its for CONTROL

one of the best things that happened to me the summer I graduated HS was I got enough graduation money to get a new phone that my mom never got to touch!! they were pretty strict/controlling but thankfully once I was 18 they loosened up a lot and my phone was still on their plan and they paid for the line but I finally got complete control over a piece of tech it was GREAT

My almost 16 year old was sitting next to me listening to this and he said, "I'm really glad she's not MY mama." While the internet is a dangerous place, by the time they reach my son's age, they should have some privacy. I've taught him right from wrong, we have open, honest conversations and I trust my kid. Is he perfect? No. But he's a waaaaaayyyyyyyy better kid than I was at his age...

Meanwhile both my boys had their own AppleIDs and all when I got them their phones, and their 16 and 19. The rule was I could check their phones at any time, and I had to know their passwords (mostly because they tend to forget them.) I haven’t felt the need to check their phones.
