It’s almost as if treatment is too late when we need structural change

I’m so tired of ppl always blaming the doctor. We are not “brainwashed” by pharmaceutical companies, we do not want to keep patients sick for profit, the vaccine phobia etc. It’s so tiring every day trying to fight an uphill battle in a system that is set up for everyone to fail and for insurance ceos to make millions. Sure there are bad doctors out there but an overwhelming majority of at least everyone I know want the best for their patients

Love to see the SDOH hashtag in the caption, I work in hospital quality reporting and the fact that SDOH is no longer mandatory is so fucked

The most important thing I learned in grad school is that policy affects people more than anything. Without addressing systemic issues through legislation/laws, it will never get better.

Capitalism has turned helping people into a for-profit business that values numbers over outcomes. If the general public could see the reality of our field, we would work in a single-payer system overnight.

This is why public health education is so important. I just finished my first year of my MPH and it has changed the way I view healthcare and how I want to work with patients in the future

My kids are MS4, PA2, and Premed2. The volunteer hours required for med school have had a huge impact on their perspective.
Nothing build empathy faster than working with a person or family who needs help.

and if we were just in it for the money there are so many ways to make money that aren’t half as difficult or traumatizing. i could’ve been a finance bro but instead i spend every waking moment studying science and will see no return on that investment for almost a decade

THANK YOU FOR THIS!! I’m trying so hard to make a guide in Spanish for people who don’t know what to ask for when they get there and they speak a different language than the doctor.

I’m in med school and one day the professor asked us to think about if we would still choose to be doctors if what we were paid was cut in half. For me, the answer is an immediate yes! I’m in it to be there and care for others on their worst days. I don’t care about making a bunch of money. As long as I’m able to provide for my family, that’s all I care about. I want to help others!! I worked as an MA/scribe for 2 years before starting med school, and it made my day when patients would call or come in the office and tell us about how much better they were doing!! I love knowing that I made a small difference for them and that’s honestly enough payment for me. I’m not saying every doctor is perfect, but the majority of us want to do everything we can to make our patients better.
