If you’re ever in a pinch I recommend checking the host a sister page on Facebook. There’s ladies all over the world offering a room or couch for free and are usually incredibly helpful in emergencies like this

You should have canceled and put reason as uncommunicative host and give details you would have got your money back ..i experienced something similar in Milan. Airbnb is a very risky game. I wouldn’t advise someone who is solo to do that honestly.

So, it’s not Airbnb, it’s booking.com. Big difference. Anybody can put a listing on there. Airbnbs you can check the recent reviews. As a host, they are not perfect but it’s very unlikely this would happen

An advice, avoid arriving late into a city you don't know that way if you have issues it gives you time to find alternatives. Sorry you had to go through that.

Was it Airbnb or booking.com? Both have issues, to be honest. The best approach I’ve found to choosing accommodation is to research the area I want to stay in then use google maps to identify places to stay. Then I book direct 99.99% of the time. You can’t take risks with this type of thing, as I’m sure you’ve learned!

Oh no! This happened to me when I flew into NYC. I messaged the host when I got to the airport tonight to confirm I was 30 minutes away. Got to the BnB and was on the stoop for 3 hours because he fell asleep inside 😭
