my favorite move is the "wet nut jump" from Mario Odyssey, where you repeatedly throw, dash to, catch and throw a wet nut to basically fly, and for some reason it has to be wet

in the wii golf speedrun it's faster to get a hole in 2 than a hole in one, because it's a shorter animation. so all the speedrunners purposefully make their shots a little bad

Paper Mario 64 is one of my favorite speedrun games ever. Because you play the game as a kid and it’s a 10/10 masterpiece. A flawless experience when you first play it. Then you learn it is one of the buggiest, broken games you can exploit in absurd ways when you know how to do it. Such a fun rabbit hole.

I don't know if you'd call it a speed run, but I assume the speed run for Farcry 4 is set in stone because you literally just wait. also oblivion also has a "spawn glitch into the final area" speed run before you even need the first line of dialogue.

Fun fact: The OoT speedrun uses what's called "Stale Reference Manipulation" which was the breakthrough needed to discover the Paper Mario SRM since the code for both games are incredibly similar. When SRM was discovered, it was also discovered that you could beat the OoT trial in Super Smash Brothers Brawl using this trick.

Also the current any% Ocarina of Time speedrun requires you to pick up any 1 item and then rewrite the draw params to trick it into playing the credits for you
