I personally don't feel like a movie or TV show would detract or ruin the original book, i mean if the movie or TV show suck, I mean yeah that sucks but we're still left with the book and it'd still be just as much of a masterpiece as it was before any movie attempt was made 😅

Yes. It’s even unreadable. I tried in the late 70s and I just put it down never to pick it back up again and I’m a huge Tolkien fan.

I read the silmarillion about 20 years ago and it had such a profound impact on me that I haven't I've been able to read a novel since. in its scope and dimension it's unlike anything else ever written. a dense historical narrative where every chapter could be broken out and detailed into a lotr sized trilogy. it definitely doesn't feel like reading a novel but more like reading an ancient sacred text. the only thing that I feel compares to its sense of timeless epic grandeur and unforgettable characters would be the entire Shakespearean canon.

I think you take each individual story and make long episodes of a show for tv. You can tie each episode to the others but each episode is its own story.

As a whole no the Silmarillion can’t be made into a movie it’s near nigh impossible. You can take complete stories from the Silmarillion like Beren and Luthien, The Fall of Gondolin, Fall of Númenor and The Children of Húrin and make those into possible movies or mini series.
