If the council had given it even a little thought, they could've used Anakins emotions to endear him to them. It would have been a trivial matter to go free his mother and set her up with a comfortable life. Clearly Anakin wasn't going to sever his emotions in the way they wanted so they should have adapted. Anakin’s outrage about rank kind of makes sense when you realize this movie takes place after the clone wars, Anakin is a decorated war hero, has killed two sith by this point, has saved the life of every single council member en countless civilians.

Someone already explained why Anakin was actually upset about not being a master, but there's also a reason Yoda left for Kashyyk. The Jedi Council believed that Sidious wouldn't have revealed himself if both Yoda and Windu were on Coruscant, which I think makes sense.

You people don’t get anything do you? The Jedi’s unwillingness is what caused anikan to switch. When he’s around Obiwan he’s confident and self assured because Obiwan things highly of anikan. He treats him right. But with the Jedi council, they constantly shun him and make him feel unwelcome, if you know what it feels like to be an outcast for reasons you don’t understand. The only thing you begin to feel is anger.
