I am a prof and researcher, and I talk about this all the time. Knowledge behind paywalls is never a good thing. Hell, those of us who write and publish in academic journals don’t even get paid.

Btw: The scientists get nothing out of the paper. They even have to pay thousands of euros to the journals just to publish. And then the journals don't even peer review the papers themselves, they let other scientists do it for free...

Education shouldn't be behind a pay wall. It should be a fundamental human right to learn. I get scientists and academic institutions need to make money. However, things like this should at the very least, be priced at a level that is affordable to even the poorest people.

The researchers have to pay to get published, the peer reviewers do it for free. The only people making money are the publishers . It’s crap.

Academic publishing it the biggest scam. Authors don't get payed to write, reviewers don't get payed to review, the papers aren't even printed nowadays cause it's all online, and yet the prices to access the papers are sky high.
