Apparently “not being fired” is an accomplishment now. I don’t think people understand how hard it is to actually get fired, it means little to nothing if your employer keeps you around, especially at an entry-level service job. When I was a supervisor as a pizzeria, we had several people who deserved to be fired but were kept around because it was less convenient to replace them. One of them did get fired because in a 3 month span they basically missed a month worth of shifts, that’s how bad it had to get.

And these are the same people on the news complaining about AI taking jobs 😂 I totally empathise with those who genuinely try and get laid off. However attitudes like this are one of the many reasons that companies WILL automate this stuff

I was a manchild. I really didn’t start trying to build a career until like 22 when I got my now wife pregnant. I’m now one of the pillars of the marketing agency I work for now. I can’t comprehend this “I’m a grown adult still working at the same level I started at” mentality.
