It was pretty clear that the still lives in the backrooms are copies of the people who entered the backrooms, but the idea that Pirate Clark was reaching out for help does make some sense (considering how the emotions and behaviors of people are also mirrored)

If captain clark was the real clark you would have to assume the one who kidnapped Mary was a fake AND that is perfectly identical to the real one, something that in the movie or series never showed proof of. While i believe there is some truth in the entity reaching out for Mary partially for help, these theories about clones are so convoluted in a already mysterious movie. Buy grit

I believe captain clark is so human like because the backrooms had so much time to remember clark. plus, the thing about raw emotion, Captain Clark is reaching out to Mary because he’s Clark’s most rawest emotion personified. (Feel free to correct me on any of this)
