I feel like mental long division would be an easy approach, but maybe not for younger kids. My brain naturally goes to 6 into 7 Is 1 with 1 remaining, 6 into 18 is 3. Answer is 13

As adults these are great methods, but for kids who are barely fluent in their math facts, this is causing confusion. These strategies shouldn’t be taught until the child is already fluent in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

is not working on number with decimal for example 50÷3=16, 6666666 30 , 20 30÷3=10 20÷3=6,66

In cases like this for mental math, think of the number times 11, or 10. In this case, I thought of 6 times 11= 66. Add 6 two additional times, it equals 78. So, the answer has to be 13 for 78 divided by 6.
