It was the 1909 March 31st incident from the Young Turks. They secularised the empire and pushed for a pro Turkish state rather than Abdulhamid’s pan Islamic idea. Ironically during WW1 Enver pasha would use Islamic imagery and even declare holy war to convince people to die for turkey. Only have respect for Fahreddin Pasha, he defended the beloved medina, for the caliph, not for Turkiye. That’s why the elites disliked him

The nationalism of other countries did the arabs betrayed the ottomans in craving of an own state that led to the hatred in the ottoman empire after hundrets of years of unification the ottomans threw all those out who stood against them like the greeks in the empire it became more and more turkish and so did the nationalism come. Yes nationalism destroyed the ottomans but so did it to the romans and so on and it wasnt the inherit nationalism of the turks but the result of the minorities in the empire
