I've grown into a compulsive liar because of this. Anytime I was honest about my mistakes, I was forced to go without food. I would have my door removed and receive no privacy. I was taught that privacy is something you earn through making zero mistakes, not something you have the right to have. Fear of this taught me to lie. I got so good at it to the point I began to lie about things that genuinely made no sense to lie about. I'd begin to make up stories about my upbringing just to see how far I could push the lie, and I quickly learned that I really could just keep a lie going forever if I forced myself to believe it too. It's hard to determine now what I've lied about and what's genuinely true. Even today at 23-years-old, I have a very difficult time with honesty, especially when it comes to being honest about my mistakes. I'm working on it, but this behavior was conditioned. This behavior was built into my brain. Being a compulsive liar has made me realize that I crave nothing but the truth. I crave to be honest. I want to be able to be honest and upfront and not be scared of the repercussions that come from it.

Literally me. I had to teach myself to lie, and now it’s genuinely an issue, because I’ll make up cover stories for EVERYTHING, even things that are perfectly normal and don’t need to be lied about

I have become obsessed with hiding my YouTube channel and TikTok so much because I know my family would either not approve or watch everything I do. I make a lot of content that they don’t agree with. I’ve become so used to my online self because it’s how I actually feel. Sometimes I forget my own name for a few seconds because I remember my online name. Online I can be angry, I can be tired, I can express everything wrong with me but in real life if I lash out I get scolded and told to take my medication
